# How do I use the TrailIntel mobile app on my CarPlay or Android Auto display?

## The TrailIntel app for CarPlay and Android Auto lets you access the best features of the app at your fingertips, making navigation a breeze on the trail

### Record A Track

- Click “Record” in the upper right corner.
- When finished, click “Stop Record” in the upper right corner.
- Enter the track’s information on your **phone screen** to save the track, or click “don’t save” to discard.

### Search for Waypoints, Custom Waypoints, Routes, Tracks, or Trails

- Click the **magnifying glass** in the upper right corner to access the search function.
- Select the category you would like to browse through, or type in what you’d like to find in the search bar.

### Access Your Favorite Waypoints, Custom Waypoints, Routes, Tracks, or Trails

- Select the **bookmark icon** in the upper right corner.
- Select the category you would like to browse through, or type in what you’d like to find in the search bar.

### Create a Trail Report

- Click the triangle with the exclamation point on the right side of the screen
- Select the appropriate category and create the report
- This can only be done from the trail

### Adjust the Map View

- Toggle between the navigation arrow and the radio signal icon in the bottom right corner to swap between auto-center and North up map view
- When the **radio signal** icon displays, this indicates the map is in auto-center mode and will follow you as you travel
- When the **navigation arrow** displays, the map will not follow you. This appears when you manually move the map around, or when you tap the radio signal icon to switch to North up view
- To zoom in and out on the map, tap the plus and minus buttons on the right side of the screen. You can double tap any point on the map to quickly zoom in.

### Create a Route

The route can be created in multiple ways. You can create the route on your mobile phone or web, save it to your account, and search for it on the display. If you create the route on your mobile phone, you gain the ability to add multiple stops to your route.

- To create a route on the CarPlay display, first locate your destination. Click the point on the map, or find it by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper right corner and using the search function.
- If you are not physically ON the trail, and want to use the CarPlay/Android Auto display to pre-plan the route, you first need to select your “From” location. This can be done by clicking the point on the map, or by using the search function. Click “Create Route”, then “From this place” to set your starting location.
- You will then be prompted to select your destination. You can do this by selecting a point on the map or by using the Search function.
- If you are physically on the trail, you can select your destination, click “Create Route”, then “To this place” to launch turn-by-turn guidance without first selecting a “From” location
- If you have already created the route in the web or mobile app, you can locate it in the Favorites menu. If you want to select a publicly available route created by another user, you can locate them in the Search menu.

**Tip:** When your phone is connected to the display and you launch a route in the mobile app (by clicking “Start” at the bottom of the screen), you will be prompted to select whether you want to launch directions on the phone or the display. This allows you to build routes with more stops, from your camp or restaurant during a stop, or ahead of your trip and easily stream them to the CarPlay/Android Auto display.

### Using the Voice Search

Click the microphone on the left side of the screen to activate the voice search.

- You can say “Navigate to” and state your destination. The device will ask which point you would like if there are multiple applicable.

### Exiting a route

- Click the X in the upper right corner to clear a route you have created but not yet launched.
- Click the “Stop” or “End” in the upper right corner to end a route you have launched to receive turn-by-turn guidance.
- You will then be prompted on your phone to either save or discard the track that automatically records during your route.
