How do I save my own custom waypoint on my Garmin GPS?
Trailside services like food, fuel, lodging, parking, and more are preloaded into the TrailIntel map. Here's how to save your own custom waypoint to your device!
Creating your own waypoints can be useful in many situations, like saving the location of your friend's camp, your rental for the week, where you parked your truck and trailer, or a trail you'd like to travel again in the future.
To save your own waypoint, first find the location you want on the map. The name of the point or the nearest trail to it will display at the bottom of the screen.
Tap on the name from the bottom of the screen to open a menu about that point. In this menu, you can navigate to the point or save it as a custom waypoint. Once you've given the point a name and click "Save", you will be able to find it in either your "Saved" section under "Where to?" or by doing a spell search.
Another great feature to utilize is the Home Location. To set yourself up for one-click navigation back to where you started your ride, you can set it as your Home Location before you head out. This should be done each time you leave somewhere new.- Click"Where To?"
- Click the three lines in the upper left corner to open a menu of more options
- Click "Set Home Location"
This will bring you to a menu where you can use your current location or any recently found locations and set it as Home.
Once you have saved your Home Location, you can then just click "Go Home" from any spot on the trails, and the device will auto-route you straight back to where you started.
