What do the trail report icons in the TrailIntel web and mobile apps mean?

Here you can find a legend for all trail reports in the TrailIntel app, as well as a refresher on POI and custom waypoint icons.

From left to right, these icons indicate the following:

Trail Conditions

  • Groomed trail - A dark green icon with a white, winding trail.

  • Caution - A dark green icon with a white, winding trail and an exclamation mark.

  • Danger - A dark green icon with a white raised hand inside an outlined stop-sign shape.

  • Trail conditions - A dark green icon with a white signpost and a check mark. Use this category when the condition falls outside the other categories, and add a note to the report.

Hazards

  • Moguls - An orange icon with a white, uneven trail showing a series of bumps.

  • Object in trail - An orange icon with white concentric rings and an exclamation mark in the center.

  • Open water - An orange icon with a white avatar raising both arms above wavy water lines.

  • Wildlife - An orange icon with white evergreen trees and an animal silhouette. 

Safety

  • Accident - A dark orange icon with a white figure beside a tilted vehicle.

  • Breakdown - A dark orange icon with a white vehicle and a raised hood.

  • SOS - A dark orange icon with a white emergency medical symbol. 

Law Enforcement

  • Hidden - A blue icon with a white pinpoint partially concealed behind trees.

  • Visible - A blue icon with a white avatar of a police officer.

  • Checkpoint - A blue icon with a white checkpoint booth and a raised barrier arm. 

Trail Update

  • Gate - A green icon with a white gate.

  • Closure - A green icon with a white striped barrier and a no-entry symbol.

  • Reroute - A green icon with a white winding route, a circular directional arrow, and a location pin.

  • Landowner request - A green icon with a white dotted route connecting two location markers.

  • Intersection - A green icon with a white road and intersecting road near the top.

Trail Operations

  • Construction - A dark orange icon with a white avatar above a striped barrier.

  • Logging - A dark orange icon with a white tracked logging machine and an articulated arm.

  • Machinery - A dark orange icon with a white excavator and a striped panel above it.

  • Temporary access change - A dark orange icon with a white traffic cone, a clock, and a circular directional arrow.

  • Trail operations - A dark orange icon with a white striped barrier across a road.

  • Trail work - A dark orange icon with a white road flanked by two traffic cones. 

 

POI

  • Attraction - An orange icon with a white magnet and a group of avatars.
  • Business - A green icon with a white briefcase.
  • Dealership - A light blue icon with a white snowmobile and icon of a handshake.
  • Gas - A dark orange icon with a gas pump.
  • Lodging - A dark orange icon with a white bed.
  • Parking - A light blue icon with a white P.
  • Restroom - A dark green icon with a white restroom symbol.
  • Restaurant - A green icon with a white fork and spoon.

Custom Waypoint Markers

  • Wildlife - An orange icon with a white target with arrows.
  • Marine - A light blue icon with a white anchor.
  • Marker - A brown icon with a white flag.
  • Navigation - A dark orange icon with a white satellite receiver.
  • POI - A bright red icon with a white pinpoint.
  • Recent - A blue icon with a white arrow around a clock.
  • Sign - A dark yellow icon with a white signpost.
  • Transportation - A blue-green icon with a white side--by-side.
